The Borders County Railway
The Borders County Railway was never the largest or busiest of railways, but it was deeply connected to the communities it served. Running through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Scottish Borders, it carried people, livestock, goods and stories between towns and villages for generations.
Through a collection of carefully chosen historic maps, this catalogue invites you to rediscover the route, explore the places it connected and experience a landscape shaped by both railway and community.

The Reston- Duns- St Boswells Line
This short line stitched together villages, farms and river crossings, moving gently through the soft interior of the Borders. Though much of it has faded from view, the landscape still holds its shape — embankments softened by grass, bridges standing without trains, and towns that grew around the rhythm of arrival and departure. These maps offer a quiet glimpse into a railway that served everyday life with steady purpose.
The North Eastern Railway
Following the eastern reaches of the Borders and the North Sea coast, the North Eastern Railway linked communities, industries and travellers for generations. Through carefully chosen historic maps, this collection explores the towns, villages and landscapes that grew alongside the railway, offering a glimpse into a world shaped by steam, trade and the enduring beauty of the border country.
